It was a big fashion month in the northern hemisphere, with around 400 designers and major luxury houses presenting their autumn/winter collections in the fashion capitals of New York, London, Milan and Paris. There was no shortage of trends that emerged, of course. Embellishment was big, as were headwear and fur-covered shoes, but it was jewellery that seemed to be paid more attention this autumn/winter season than it has been in previous years.

With bulkier silhouettes and materials geared for winter popping up on the runways, it was nice to see designers leaning into some more glamorous elements in their collections in the form of interesting and considered jewellery. Earrings that made a statement were seen next to chokers and pendant necklaces, while bolder resin-type pieces seem to be more present than glitzier numbers.

If you missed the whirlwind that was fashion month but still want to keep your finger on the pulse, allow us to help. Here, we break down the four biggest jewellery trends we spotted on the runway and where to shop them at The Strand Arcade.

The pendant necklace

They were big in the mid-2010s and now, pendants are back in a big way, according to the runways. Fendi presented swinging versions that are perfect for layering over a jumper. This Lapis pendant from Robert Clerc is short enough for everyday wear but enough of a statement to wear over a fine turtleneck.

The statement choker

Gucci never shies away from a bit of drama, and this season the house sent gem-encrusted chokers down the runway. Though there are no gems here, the Daisy Choker from Dinosaur Designs features tiny flowers and is available in silver and gold, so you can layer it up or wear it solo.

The chandelier earring

A swinging chandelier earring added a hefty dose of glam to many a look on the Louis Vuitton runway this season. These pink tourmaline ones are made to order from Rox Gems & Jewellery and are about as glamorous as it gets.

The sculptural earring

Less sparkle, more shape, the sculptural earring emerged as the everyday upgrade on the autumn/winter runways. Bottega Veneta presented pebble–looking styles and geometric takes on the hoop. These freshwater pearl earrings from Zappacosta Jewels are the perfect everyday piece that are interesting enough to make a statement without being too much.
