When it comes to the metallic trend, we never really see it disappear from seasonal collections. Whether it’s the main trend throughout the collection, or a hint through accessories, it always has a spot in fashion.

When most people see metallic, they instantly think party season. Just over halfway through the year and we aren’t there just yet. Although, that doesn’t mean you can’t work the trend in your day to day and weekend wardrobe.

During the day, the key is to keep the rest of your look simple so avoid wearing bold colours or prints at the same time. Instead, you can make something like a sequin dress or skirt work by pairing it with a simple white shirt and your favourite sneakers to play your look down. Alternatively, you can experiment with unexpected flashes of metallic with subtle lightweight knitwear to team back with your favourite corporate suit, making it appropriate for the office.

Evening dressing is always that little more fun. You can elevate the metallic trend by wearing your favourite mini dress and style the look back with beautiful jewels to compliment the look. AJE have played on this trend really well adding in some texture with sequins throughout their collection, whilst Camilla and Marc have opted for Lurex finished fabrics.

If your style is more on the minimal side, and metallic is a little too daring for you to wear head to toe, opt for a metallic accessory that best reflects the trend. Whether it is a bag with a little metallic hardware, a striking heel or a selection of opulent glitzy jewels. Adding these pieces will give your simple mini black dress, or jeans and tee that little extra glitz and glam.
