Aquamarine

Aquamarine is the modern birthstone for March. Named after the colour of sea water (with aqua meaning water, and marina referring to the ocean), Aquamarine has been used in jewellery throughout history for its enchanting, ice-blue hues.

Perhaps due to its watery appearance, Aquamarine is strongly associated with water and the sea. It is believed that wearing an Aquamarine would provide protection to sailors and fishermen, and travellers making their way across rough waters.

The quality of Aquamarine is determined by its depth and purity of colour, and clarity. It is part of the beryl family, alongside Emerald.

Aquamarine represents happiness, hope and everlasting youth.

Tanzanite

Tanzanite – with its bewitching blue-violet colour hues – is one of the modern birthstones for December, and is associated with tranquillity and clarity, helping individuals overcome obstacles, enhance intuition, and promote better communication.
