Swiss-born Australian jeweller Robert Clerc is proud to celebrate 50 years in business. This milestone is a testament to Robert’s creativity, his mismatched shoes, and the timeless allure of his jewellery - crafted as sculptural pieces of art. Since opening his first shop in The Strand Arcade in 1975, Robert has cultivated a loyal following who remain captivated by his impressive body of original work.

Robert’s approach to jewellery has been anything but conventional. His playful experimentation with architectural forms and his unyielding commitment to handmade craftsmanship have been the bedrock of his success.

He began his journey at the haute horlogerie house Patek Philippe in Geneva, where he learned the precision and discipline that would underpin his classical training. But it was his decision to uproot and travel the world for several years that shaped his design philosophy for decades to come. Immersing himself in diverse cultures and landscapes, Robert developed a deep reverence for nature and storytelling - two themes that continue to echo through his work today.

“The success of my jewellery, I believe, lies in its integrity of craftsmanship and the ability of each piece to convey a narrative - whether it’s an homage to cultures rich in history, or a celebration of the beauty of nature,” he says.

This ethos is evident across his most celebrated collections. From the enduring Egyptian Collection, which has evolved over decades while retaining its original spirit, to the whimsical Ladybird Collection - a recent collaboration with his daughter, Laetitia Clerc. In December 2023, Robert reopened the doors of his Strand Arcade boutique - this time, to welcome his daughter Laetitia into the business and begin a new chapter together.

Laetitia brings her own creative energy and perspective to the business, one that honours the past while embracing the future. Their collaboration is more than familial; it’s the continuation of a creative legacy. Together, they are exploring new ideas and forms - building on a foundation of respect, craftsmanship, and shared vision.

To commemorate this 50-year milestone, Robert Clerc will unveil a special piece later in the year. This celebratory work will honour his legacy - a testament to the staying power of original, meaningful design.
